About the artist
Marian's passion for art began at the age of four, when an uncle showed her how to draw a figure. From that moment, she was inspired to be a creative individual, first through drawing, then eventually painting.
She grew up near the shores of Lake Erie and later attended Kent State University in Ohio, where she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design. After gradustion, Marian moved to New York City and worked in the garment district as a textile artist.
Following her time in New York, she traveled extensively before settling in the Philadelphia area, where she married and raised her family. For 43 years, Marian worked as a commerical artist in advertising departments for several companies, including a Spanish Advertising firm. She also freelanced as an illustrator, contributing artwork to books and various publications.
When the oppotunity arose to devote more time to her personal creativity, Marian returned to painting with renewed enthusiasm. She explored watercolors, collage, and mixed media, and even reinvented furniture using trompe l'oeil and whimsical painted designs. But once she discovered the richness of pastels, she never looked back. Pastels allowed her to merge her love of drawing with the vibrancy of painting. Their limitess colors continue to fascinate her.
Marian now resides in sunny Sarasota, Florida, where she enjoys year-round plein air painting and spends countless hours in her studio, losing herself in creating art.
